The Cuore is a children’s book written in 1886 by Italian author Edmundo de Amychus. In the preface of the author, this book is dedicated to primary school students between the ages of nine and thirteen. I think the literature “Cuore” will be the children’s “Bible”. I’m ashamed to read this book in my sophomore year, but it’s never too late to read good books. This is a daily literary work in the voice of the main character, Nkoli, from the first day of October in his fourth grade to the July of his second year, recounting what he saw and heard in and out of school, with several admonitions written for him by his parents and monthly stories told by his teachers in class. This work is a primary school student’s eyes to examine the beauty and ugliness, good and evil around, completely with love to feel every bit of life.
The world of Nkoli and his friends and classmates is surrounded by love. Teacher’s love, students’ love, parents’ love, children’s love, students’ love…… Every kind of love is not earth-shattering, but let people move. Nkoli’s friends were the excellent De Rossi, the blacksmith’s son, the little mason, the “little merchant”… Different families can still be good friends. In one memorable scene, Nkoli invited several children to his house to play, including the little mason. While they were enjoying themselves, some pieces of mud from the mason’s clothes fell onto the sofa. Nkoli tried to wipe it off with his hand, but Nkoli’s father stopped him just in time.
